OFFLINE

Rewilding the Human Imagination

The Problem

Attention is hijacked by infinite scroll.

Memory is outsourced to the cloud.

Experience is flattened into content.

Kids and teens are especially exposed.

Net result: We are present less, together less, and worse off.

Go Offline. Together. In public.

Not with another app, but with a rule and a ritual: phones out, people in.

What it is:

A movement to rebuild presence and connection.

What it isn't:

A wellness retreat or a branded content play.

The Launch:

Burning Phone

A phone‑free urban gathering — part Woodstock, part Burning Man, part rave‑meets‑ritual.

  • No phones.. No followers. No hashtags. No proof. Only analogue recording on 16mm, polaroid, and cassette.
  • Urban, affordable, accessible. "Burning Man for the people. Woodstock energy for a new generation."
  • Program: music, ritual, dance, low, medium and high culture, conversation and communion, civic moments live only.
  • Designed to inspire: wild, feral, limbic, communal.
  • City cores, not deserts; near transit.

How It Spreads

Word-of-mouth, posters, postcards, street teams.

Secret phone boxes that ring with coordinates.

Whispered invites and postal mailers.

If you weren't there, you missed it (You had to be there)

The Rulebook

Phone Amnesty at Gate: lockable pouches/secure check.

Zero Recording: staff trained for gentle but firm enforcement.

No Livestreaming/Press in‑rite: press can film build and aftermath only.

Accessibility: step-free access, quiet zones, water, first aid.

Safety: professional security, harm‑reduction partners, clear exits.

Programming

  • Artists, thinkers, athletes, creators deliver one‑off, unrecorded moments.
  • Could be a song, dance, talk, ritual, conversation, reading.
  • Exists once. Lives in memory.
  • Community slots for local groups to contribute.

Tone & Aesthetic

4

Ambassadors

  • 25 global ambassadors seed intrigue through in-person gatherings and analogue rituals.
  • Goal: build mystique and teach the rule set before the main event.

Research & Impact

Measuring Presence

A data‑light framework to study attention, wellbeing, creativity and belonging without surveillance.

Outputs

A short film (making‑of only) + a white paper for open publication.

Partners

Independent ethics advisors; simple opt‑ins only.

Why Now

Screen time and anxiety are up; attention is down.

People want live, unmediated culture again.

A clear, simple covenant (no phones) is rare and powerful.

OFFLINE offers a practical, public reset.

What Success Looks Like

01

A sold‑out, phone‑free urban gathering with diverse audiences.

02

Strong press around the idea and build (not the rites).

03

Documented, ethical learnings on presence for public good.

04

Cities and partners asking for the next edition.

Partnership (Who We Want)

Organisations that lived pre‑internet and built post‑internet ready to put something back.

A moonshot/R&D lab, media with analogue roots, or civic/heritage brands with public trust.

Willing to acknowledge attention harm and fund repair in the real world.

Partnership (What We're Asking For)

Co‑fund + co‑design the 2026 pilot OFFLINE Gathering (urban, multi‑day).

Co‑author an ethical, data‑light Measuring Presence framework.

Provide space/logistics/civic pathways.

Amplify the making‑of.

Partnership (What You Get)

1

Cultural leadership for a genuine anti‑scroll movement.

2

Shared credit on the documentary/manifesto and the presence white paper.

3

Recruitment and reputation benefits: proof of putting something back.

4

Pathway to a multi‑city series and an "Offline Tech" category.

Partnership non‑Negotiables

No phones inside. No digital capture. No surveillance.

No digital promotion; analogue intrigue only.

Logos live in prologue/epilogue, never in the rite.

The moment belongs to the people; the learning belongs to the world.
